
Substance Abuse Disorder
Substance abuse can come in many forms and can include the use of illegal drugs or the abuse and misuse prescription drugs. Alcohol Use Disorder
Alcohol use disorder can include a combination of craving, physical dependence, an increasing tolerance for alcohol and a loss of control when consuming alcohol. "Alcohol use disorder is a medical condition characterized by impaired ability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse social, occupational, or health consequences." ~www.niaaa.nih.gov

Opiod Use Disorder
Opioid use disorder is defined by taking opioids in larger amounts or over a longer period than intended, You may have a persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control opioid use. You may be spending a great deal of time obtaining or using the opioid or recovering from its effects. You may have cravings or a strong desire or urge to use opioids. This can be accompanied by problems fulfilling obligations at work, school or home.

MAT Program Counseling
The Federal Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program requires all participants to meet with a licensed Substance Abuse Counselor on a regular basis in order to remain in the program - which is where I can help. Examples of medications you may be prescribed by your provider can include Suboxone, Naltrexone, Buprennorphine, or Methadone to assist with opioid and alcohol withdrawal.
